How to link godaddy domain with AWS, Amazon EC2

Amazon EC2 is quite a new thing for the newbies who are using it for the first time. This article considers that you have already set up the Amazon EC2 instance and running, it will guide you how to linkup your godaddy domain to point your Newly created Amazon EC2 instance.

Here are the steps

1- Loging to your amazon ec2 here –

2- From the left navigation pane, select “Elastic IPs” under Netword and Security

Select elastic ip under amazon EC2

3- Click “Allocate New Address” button, follow the steps, Select EC2 from the dropdown and click “Yes Allocate”

4- Once allocated, you will see the newly created IP address in the table. Check that and then click on “Associate Address” button.

5- Select your newly created instance from the dropdown and click on “Yes, Associate” button.

6- Login to your godaddy account and go to domain manager.

7- Edit the domain which you want to link to this newly created AWS instance.

8- Edit the A-Record and assign the newly created IP Address there.

9 – Click on launch and edit the A record as showen in the picture.

    I need to follow this step also if I want to associate it to a Cloud Formation stack?

    I’m stuck! :S


    • If you already have the server IP you can follow from step 6 and it should work. I am not sure from Step 1 – 5 how it will work for Clould Formation Stack, but more or less it should be the same. Feel free to post the steps you followed as comment here once you successfully do it.
